Reciprocator

The Clear Path to a Flawless Finish

A powder coating reciprocator is an essential electromechanical component within an automated powder coating system, designed to optimize the application process by providing controlled, predictable motion to one or more powder spray guns. Its primary function is to ensure uniform coating thickness, maximize transfer efficiency, and adapt to various part geometries by moving the guns through a programmable path.

Core Function & Design Principle:
The reciprocator translates the spray guns along a linear axis ( horizontal) in a repeated back-and-forth (reciprocating) motion.

This movement, superimposed on the conveyor line’s travel, creates an overlapping spray pattern that eliminates streaks and ensures complete coverage, especially on tall, flat, or complex workpieces.

Key Technical Components & Features:

  • Powered by a gear motor and wear-resistant toothed belt.

  • Available in short or long stroke designs for vertical gun arrays.

  • Robust side guide bearing supports loads up to 80 kg.

  • Stores up to 25 custom programs for different workpieces.
  • Features programmable gap control, cleaning positions, and outputs.

  • Parameters are adjustable to match changing conveyor speeds.

Integration and Benefits:

When integrated with a powder coating control unit, the reciprocator transforms a static spray station into a highly efficient, automated cell. Key benefits include:

  • Uniform Film Build: Eliminates manual application inconsistencies.

  • Increased Transfer Efficiency: Reduces overspray and powder waste by directing spray accurately.

  • Flexibility: Quick changeover between different part programs.

  • Reduced Operator Involvement & Fatigue: Automates the most repetitive aspect of spraying.
